The name of the town coming from the famous Athenian lawmaker, Solon, is also the middle name of the son of the first settler of the town arriving in 1820. The town grew through its eventual success in agriculture and proximity to Cleveland’s railroad. The town is laid out in a traditional New England plan with a public square in the town’s center. Top employers in the city are the Swagelok Company, Nestle Food Company and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and are a great example of the diversity of manufacturing companies located here.
